Guild Perspectives - Ugru'kel

Posted by AvalyndraeJune 18, 2009 at 9:15 pm

Last Winter Veil, we noticed Ugru bears a striking resemblance to Great-father Winter. Are they related?

No. The resemblance, though uncanny, is simply coincidence. Although Ugru bears a degree of awe for Great-father Winter.

Ugru dressed up as Great-father Winter, didn't he?

He has, on occasion, and still may in the future.

Ugru comes across as a rather caring, wise, generous and somewhat gentle orc. Is this the image he wants to convey, or would he rather be known as scary and ruthless?

Ugru can also be quite sarcastic and has a bit of a dark sense of humor, but does care for his guild-mates and will not hesitate to share his wisdom.

Where is Ugru from?

He was a very small child when he left Shadowmoon Valley. His parents joined Gul'dan in learning the dark arts.

ugru
Many an orc-centric lady would easily fall head-over-heels for the distinguished warlock Ugru'kel. Has he ever been in love?

No. He's been dedicated to his study of magic throughout his life. Magic and the dominion over demons.

Has he ever had a brief flirtation or even a casual encounter?

He has been flirtatious on occasion, but cautiously so.

Ugru seems very quiet. He shows up for parties or ceremonies but isn't very social and doesn't like to shock others with his tastes and mannerisms like some orcs do. Is he more sophisticated, more considerate, or has some experience differentiated him from some of the other orcs?

He's tried to elevate himself above the sometimes barbaric behavior of his fellow orcs. Because he believes that mindless violence is not the way to prevail against enemies.

Does he have a cottage in Eversong still?

Yes, but he rarely visits it. He's been living amongst the mages in Dalaran, which means he has to live in the shadows because they don't like his kind.

Ugru is kind-of a bookworm, isn't he?

Yes. Porn. ...I'm only kidding. Tauren porn. ...I'm just kidding.

What advice would Ugru give to his guild-mates if he could gather them all together and tell them his most important thoughts?

Don't suck.  ...This interview derailed somewhere along the line, I think....

What is going to happen with Ugru in the future, or what do you hope will become of him?

He wants to explore Ulduar and find out its secrets.

Raiding Reboot

Posted by UgruMay 10, 2009 at 8:19 pm

This is an old list of stat minimums that we use as guidelines for minimum effectiveness in Naxxramas.  I've made some corrections and additions.

In general, an  IMBA  rating of 300 is a good starting place for the beginning 10-man raids. Know your IMBA score and be able to compare it with the scores of the other members of the guild.   http://be.imba.hu

Requirements of All Raid Members

  • Use of Ventrilo software.  At least be able to listen.
  • Deadly Boss Mods addon. Gives detailed information about boss abilities.
  • Omen addon. Gives detailed data about threat levels of each member of the raid.
  • Knowledge of each boss encounter, either through experience or research .

Minimum Requirement for Tanks ( 2 )

  • Defense Rating: 540 (Defense Cap) NOT NEGOTIABLE
  • Health: 25k
  • Armor: 21k+
  • As much Avoidance as you can get, without sacrificing Defense and Stamina.

Minimum Requirement for DPS classes ( 5 )

Minimum Requirement for Healers ( 3 )

  • Healers should have at least 1300 spell power.
  • 500 mana regen

Any questions?

1) How do I find out what my DPS output is?

  • Download the Recount add-on.
  • Find yourself a Heroic training dummy.
  • Buff up.
  • Unload.
  • Make a note of the DPS in the Recount window.

2) How can I find out the best build and combat rotation to maximize my role?

3) How can I find out where the loot that I need drops?

  • Download Atlas and AtlasLoot.  You can create a wishlist and start farming the bosses that drop the loot that you need.

4) I don't know anything about Naxxramas!  How can I find out about it?

With a Little Help ...

Posted by UgruApril 20, 2009 at 10:32 am
... From Our Friends!

This was a banner week for Children of Eternity's Assault Team, having downed Sartharion and Archavon as usual and also defeating the Flame Leviathan in Ulduar with the help of Perseverance and Ahh Err Uhm.

Saturday, CoE again enlisted the help of our friends in Perseverance, clearing up to Kel'Thuzad in Naxxramas in one sitting, downing every boss in singular attempts. Kel'Thuzad proved to be too powerful for our tired adventurers so we rested and returned Sunday with renewed vigor (and some friends from Ahh Err Uhm).  Kel'Thuzad was no match for our group's coordination and power.  Naxxramas fell at approximately 9pm ST. The Lich King was most displeased.

Congratulations to all that participated in a stellar Naxxramas run: Mineiva, Ikiris, Ugru (and Maltaur), Avalyndrae, Tianaa, Thirah, Sorindo, Laz'eehl, Dìon, Alistuva (and Miren), Vistouf, Kodoku, Medriga, and Villizzy.

Perseverance and Ahh Err Uhm deserve our thanks.

Sapphiron Down in One Shot, No Deaths ... Grats, Children of Eternity!
(Pay no attention to dead Kikanu there... he did that on purpose just for the shot.  /sigh)

Congratulations, Laz'eehl

In honor of the 2nd anniversary of Children of Eternity, the guild sponsored a "Postcard Creation Contest" for its members.  Entrants were asked to take a screenshot or create a work of art and submit it by Wednesday, March 11. After that, the guild was polled on their favorite entry and Laz'eehl's entry, "Greetings from Sen'jin Village" was declared the winner!

Several gathered on Sunday to honor the heroes of our guild and the Horde.  A trip to Nagrand brought back the memories of Orc ancestors for some guild members, and inspired others to travel back to their homes for a visit. After the observances, several gathered in Orgrimmar to enjoy each others' company and refreshments.

On Monday, Children of Eternity launched an attack against Southshore and Goldshire which turned out to be a rather frightening affair for some.  Everyone escaped unscathed.

The Azurebreeze Coast turned out to be a good gathering place on Tuesday night.  There was way too much food followed by some rather uncomfortable situations - including Ugru suddenly having the appearance of an Iron Dwarf!  Though he has since returned to normal, the mystery has not been solved.  Some savory deviate delight had exchanged hands, so that might have caused at least some of the problems.

Children of Eternity made a successful strike against the Amani in Zul'Aman on Thursday, throwing a critical blow to Zul'Jin and the avatars.  They were equally as successful on Friday, clearing both (heroic) Drak'Tharon Keep and Halls of Lightning, in addition to completing each boss achievement in the latter.

To see pictures of many of these events, visit our Gallery! There are shots of our Anniversary Observances in the "Social Events" album and a new "Anniversary Events" album.  In addition, a new Zul'Aman sub-album has been added to the "Old Instances" album.

Special thanks this week go to Lazeehl, Kalonkakon, Thirah, Avalyndrae, Ugru, Nuellen, Kordael, Zopyros, Jarclair, Katalah, Zasalamel, Greblock, Kordael, Saudrin, Maltaur, Gir, Latheis, Fhayne, Lanuria, Loituma, and Gathra.

Congrats, Kordael & Nuellen!

Congratulations from all of Children of Eternity to Kordael and Nuellen Sunthal. We wish you the best in your new life together!

Nuellen and Kordael declared their life bond on Thursday at the Twin Colassals in Feralas.  The two celebrated with their guests under a beautiful darkening sky with the song of the forests around them.  Afterward, guests were treated to chocolate cake and Dalaran red and spent the evening dancing, swimming, and honoring the lovely couple with their presence. Several people brought gifts and offered their congratulations. Wedding pictures can be found in our gallery!

Coe, representing all of their guildmates in Children of Eternity, sent the happy couple many culinary delights to share on their honeymoon. Their scrumptious treats filled two gift baskets - plenty enough for both - with fruit and cheese from all over the known lands.

Samples included Sour Goat Cheese, Briny Hardcheese, Fine Aged Cheddar, Mag'har Mild and Garadar Sharp, Dwarven Mild, and other regional cheeses from such exotic places as Darnassas, Stormwind, and the Alterac Mountains.  Tundra and Skethyl Berries, Snapvine Watermelon, Telaari Grapes, Shiny Red and Goldenbark Apples, Tel'Abim Bananas and Deep Fried Plantains were also imported to fill out the baskets.  In addition, the couple received two Bottle(s) of Pinot Noir, Dalaran White and other scrumptious drinks to wash it down with, and two different Steamy Romance Novels.

We hope they'll put their gifts to good use and enjoy the bliss of their new union!

Anniversary Celebration and Observances

Children of Eternity will meet in the dusky twilight of Tirisfal Glades at Brill to gather in honor of the heroes and loved ones we have lost prior to and in the last couple of years.  Those who are able to face the dangers of Outland will then travel together to Garadar in Nagrand to honor the memory of the lost heroes of the Wrath Gate.  All other members are welcome to join the journey under the protection of our guild, or visit the resting places of other lost friends or family in the meantime.

After these observances are finished, Children of Eternity will reassemble in Orgrimmar to celebrate the sacrifices and victories of many battles and “put on the war paint” for the battles ahead.  Every member is encouraged to attend this celebratory anniversary party to honor one another and strengthen our bonds as we enjoy our time together.

Monday, March 9, 7:00 pm (server time)

The Horde (Children of Eternity) Rules the World

Too many times, despite so many greater threats, members of the Alliance have chosen to assault the outlying towns of the Horde (like the Crossroads and Tarren Mill) or send single or small groups of agents into our cities.  A few times, they have even sent larger groups to threaten our leaders.

The time has now come to display our might to those who choose to work against us.  Anyone who is willing to help in a top secret mission is asked to establish hearthstone communication or gather in the Great Hall of the Guild Hall at 7:00 (server).  This mission could prove to be dangerous, but is necessary, and together we will succeed!

Tuesday, March 10, 5:00 pm (server time)

Guild-Wide Scavenger Hunt or other RP-style event

Stay Tuned For Details!

Wednesday, March 11, 2009 Beginning at 6:30 pm (server time)

Battlegrounds

All who are of the season and willing to assist in our struggle to control Wintergrasp, join forces!  The Alliance refuse to work with us against a common enemy, so their petty threat must be eliminated in order for us to gain the advantage in a greater struggle.  We must take control of Wintergrasp in order to advance to the next stage of our battle in the Vault of Archavon!

All other guild members are asked to assist us in our push against the Alliance by visiting any other contested battleground – preferably with help from other guild members of similar experience – and declaring victory in those areas as well!

Wednesday, March 11, 2009     7:00 pm (server time)

Vault of Archavon followed by Obsidian Sanctum

After gaining control of Wintergrasp for the Horde, Children of Eternity will advance into the Vault to deal with the threat of Archavon.  A swift victory is expected!

Immediately following our encounters in Wintergrasp, any standing members of Children of Eternity who are able are asked to relocate to Dragonblight, where we will once again do battle with the dragons of the Obsidian Sanctum and restore order at Wyrmrest Temple.

Any members of Children of Eternity who are unable to assist us in this endeavor are asked to continue waging battle against the Alliance in our contested battlegrounds.  We will show them that if they refuse to assist us in a greater battle, they will not stand in our way of victory in it.

Thursday, March 12, 7:00 pm (server time)

Strike Against Zul’Aman (Raid)

Children of Eternity was founded in the forests of Quel’Thalas as the Sindorei struggled to reassemble their homelands and solidify their place in the Horde.  Originally established at the abandoned village at the gates of Zul’Aman, Children of Eternity was forced to relocate to Brill (and later their home in Orgrimmar) as the Amani Trolls took back their temple and once again threatened the guild and the Horde.  Now, Children of Eternity will strike back against the Amani!

Friday, March 13, 7:00 pm (server time)

Raid on Naxxramas

Since transports opened to the continent of Northrend, our guild and our peoples have been working against a common enemy with many guises – the Lich King Arthas.  One of the many threats we face in this war is the peril of Naxxramas.  Members of Children of Eternity have aided in the battle against our enemies in Naxxramas weekly, and will continue to do so, even as we celebrate and honor our own personal victory.

Postcard Contest Winner Announced!

Continuation of our Raid on Naxxramas

Children of Eternity will clear up any unfinished business that we can in the quarters of Naxxramas.

Congratulations, Children of Eternity, on your fabulous 2-year anniversary!
