Sun and moon, day and night, and the darkness and the light co-exist, with us between. They measure time, and with their balance we are able to glimpse Eternity.
The Children of Eternity recognize that in our world there is no complete good or complete evil, but that we are all influenced by both the light and the dark. We pledge that despite race or class, we seek to find the balance between our good intentions and our dark desires, to understand the plight of others whether they be friend or foe, and to uphold our commitment that we war not out of choice, but of necessity.
We are all horde races and classes. We will regard one another with respect. We will recognize the good and evil within ourselves. We will seek to find the good in all people. We will fight our enemies when we must, but respect our enemies when not fighting. We will endure for all eternity!
- Children of Eternity is a World of Warcraft guild that exists on the server Moon Guard. We are Horde.
- This guild is open to all characters, of all levels, Horde races and classes.
- Blatant disregard of the Children of Eternity principles and policies, or disrespect for fellow members or superiors, will be grounds for demotion or dismissal.
- Ranks are as follows (from low to high): Scion, Envoy, Executor, Ancient, Eternal Oracle. There is also an Honorary rank for alts and guests.
- We have teams for different aspects of the game - RP, PvP, and Instances/Raids. Read about them in our Roles and Teams section.
- Our guild tabard depicts a gold double-headed phoenix against black with a white border. The phoenix represents eternity and balance, while the background and border represent light and darkness.
- We have a guild bank, which you can read about in the Guild Bank section.
- Guild chat is in character (IC). We do have an out-of-character (OOC) channel, which should be used for conversations that are not RP. Please read about this in our Guild Chat section.
- If you need to contact a member of the guild but are unable to in-game, you can leave them a message by accessing their character page on our website and clicking "Send private message".
- The latest guild news will always be viewable on our website, or by clicking the guild tab in the in-game social menu. This tab shows the guild Message of the Day (which is also always displayed in your chat text when you first log in to the game).
- We do hold and host events. Be sure to watch the guild news. You might also find the Group Calendar add-on helpful. We currently use Group Calendar for raid sign-ups, as the in-game calendar does not provide an adequate sign-up function. You can get this add-on at www.curse.com.
RP along
the lines described above and within the Children of Eternity theme is encouraged. Members are encouraged to have their own opinions, but are discouraged from arguments and PvP amongst one another.
All in-character disputes should be approved between all involved parties and well-communicated to the rest of the guild and each other in out-of-character chats and forums to prevent hard feelings. It might also be a good idea to request the presence of an officer during RP disputes, to help moderate and alleviate any confusion. Spur-of-the-moment/impromptu disputes should be handled with extreme caution and explained in the OOC channel as immediately as possible. Please keep the policies and ideals of our guild in mind, because they apply to in-character behavior as well as out-of-character behavior!
Guild chat is in-character, to be used for RP. Our guild chat can be used both as a comm device (over innkeeper-enchanted hearthstone) for those live in the game and as a guild hall for those who prefer to emote. The specific rules of using the guild hall vs. the hearthstone communicator are explained in the Guild Hall section below.
Godmodding is strictly prohibited, as defined in the Godmodding section of this page.
Guild chat is to be used for RP only. The only exception to this rule is linking items, which should be done with brackets ((like this)) to denote an OOC post, if not linking in an RP statement about the item.
We also have an RP forum for role-playing outside the game. Please read the forum rules before posting.
The OOC channel is for all non-RP chat and is only to be used by Children of Eternity members and their alts.
The officer chat channel is accessible to Executors, Ancients, and the Eternal Oracle.
Children of Eternity does have a guild hall. The present guild hall is not a literal, in-game location. It is located in the eastern wall of Orgrimmar and is accessible through a section of the back wall of the Orgrimmar Arena. (Yes, you have to use your imagination.)
Yes, you can use your hearthstone as a communicator by typing what you have to say in guild chat, so that other guild members can read what you are saying to them. Just as innkeepers can enchant your hearthstone to summon you to a particular inn, they can enchant your hearthstone to link as a communicator to the hearthstones of other people in the guild. The hearthstones can be used to communicate all over the world and easily pick up voices and sounds in the guild hall. If you choose to use your hearthstone as a communicator, please refrain from emoting and don't abuse the power of sound effects.
Members who choose to RP that they are in the guild hall may do so in the guild chat channel, but it is asked that out of respect for the members who prefer to RP in their literal, in-game location, you refrain from being seen by other guild members. The reason we ask this is because it makes no sense for a person to be listening to you in the guild hall - which is located in Orgrimmar - and then look up and see you standing somewhere else. These members respect your right to RP in the hall. Please respect their right to RP in the world-at-large.
Members who RP that they are in the guild hall in the guild chat channel may use emotes, though logical rules dictate that people who are on the hearth/comm will not be able to see them or respond to them. If your emote makes a noise, they may respond to it. For example, "Avalyndrae sneezes."
As it can be confusing to speak back and forth between guild hall rooms, we must assume that all things said in other rooms are heard over our hearth/comm connection. We ask that members only emote guild hall actions in the "great hall" room of the guild hall, or otherwise assume that the other members can not see and/or are not aware of their actions except through sound.
The following definition of godmoding (or godmodding) will represent Children of Eternity's official stance. We may modify, edit, or amend this definition at any time.
Passive Godmoding
Godmoding can occur when a player describes an event or a series of events his or her character has taken against another character or interactive object, most often with the purpose of reversing negative effects previously encountered or granting some other effect inconsistent with an objective view of the narrative.
For example, a character may be afflicted with a disease only curable by rare ingredients, yet another character is "lucky" enough to find these ingredients in ten minutes. Godmoding is thus often used like a "Get Out Of Jail Free card" when things don't go the way a player wants, rather than working with previously unfolded events.
It is also used to describe the act of creating or playing with an invincible character or using "perfect" equipment (such as unbreakable armor), or possessing limitless power, etc. For example, if Avalyndrae says, "Ava raises her hands in the air and calls forth 1000 vampiric duskbats as her skin begins to form into an unbreakable substance that sparkles like diamonds."
Many people also describe actions and descriptions which are not consistent with official in-game lore to be godmoding. For example, if Avalyndrae suggests that she is the daughter of Sylvannas and the Queen of Undercity, if she says she can change specific conditions which exist in the game with her powers - "Ava creates a cloud which blocks out the sun", or describing one's character as a being a race which does not exist in the game, is not a playable character, or is not feasible with their character's appearance.
Some players will create a brand new character, and that character is automatically gifted with skills, and nearly impossible to take on right from the start. In many cases, this happens when a newer character goes against an established one: the newer player may roleplay his or her character as if it were equal in power and rank to the more experienced one. This is godmoding.
Active Godmoding
Godmoding can also refer to the case where a player definitively describes the outcome of their own actions against another character or interactive object. For example, if Avalyndrae states, "Ava strikes Mezzo'fen and Mezzo'fen takes damage", she could be considered to be godmoding.
Another example of this might be where a character is facing multiple enemies, and they redirect one foe's attack onto another. For example, Avalyndrae states, "Mezzo'fen misses Ava completely, and strikes Ugru instead."
Similarly, controlling characters that belong to someone else is also a form of godmoding.
Avalyndrae: Ava throws a punch at Mezzo'fen. Mezzo'fen: Mez dodges the attack, grabs Ava and throws her out of a stained glass window.
Powermoding And/Or Autoing
Godmoding can be sub-divided into two similar categories commonly found within different areas of Play-By-Post Role-Playing games, which usually revolve around areas of external roleplay. Although godmoding is often used to describe unfair rules within the realm of role-play, there are proper names for such things.
Autoing: The act of making decisions and/or actions for the target of your roleplay. Example: "You die now!" he says. He kills her and watches blood shoot from her arm...." Acts such as this are highly dishonorable and possibly the worst form of godmoding that can be acted upon.
Powermoding: The act of constant regeneration and/or dodging of attacks and actions. This is commonly found in battle-situation role-plays. Classifications such as these are usually only used by the more experienced roleplayers, usually to be only used after a certain level of experienced is reached. Acts such as this are not entirely dishonorable, for they are hard to notice, however this classification usually halts the storyline from advancing any further, making the story both unfair and simply 'not fun.' Example: After being struck by the blade aiming for her jugular Ava would immediately use her anti-matter shield to regenerate within a matter of seconds. This would repeat throughout the storyline halting it completely.
Summary
In short, godmoding can be described as an action you take that might ruin the enjoyment of the game for another character or person!
Being a "Mary Sue" is generally frowned-upon in the RP world, although it is sometimes hard to avoid when dealing with a lore-rich character or storyline. To learn more about "Mary Sue" characters, or to find out if you have one, read this Wikipedia entry, or take this test.

Relationships which are beneficial to the individual or the guild are encouraged. This includes friendships outside the guild.
One of the greatest alliances is when individuals join our guild. Do not take these events lightly. Be as welcoming as possible.
When playing with other individuals or groups, within our guild or outside it, Children of Eternity's principles apply, whether or not their ideals differ from our own. This means respect! Treat allies outside the guild as if they were a part of the guild.
Please remember that your behavior in the game, whether in a group or in the world-at-large, and whether with the guild or outside it, reflects upon the individuals in the guild and the guild as a whole. As a member of this guild, you are a representative of it, and our name is attached to your character for all to see. You are expected to represent us well.
At this time, we do not form "official" guild alliances, but do run and RP with other guilds.
In order to prevent having several inactive and/or non-participating members, we have the following policy on participation and inactivity.
If you are inactive for a whole month, you will be removed from the guild. You may be reinstated in the guild after your return from inactivity if you request it.
Those who plan to be inactive and plan on returning may let Children of Eternity know beforehand to be allowed to stay in the guild despite their inactivity. (This is not indefinite.)
This policy will help us to better represent our guild to newcomers.
Choosing A Team
All members will be divided into groups based on what they would like their role and responsibility in the guild to be. Choosing your group or "team" will be necessary for you to advance in rank. When you have decided upon which group fits you best, tell or mail the guild leader or the leader of that team to be assigned to it.
Aligning yourself with a team does not eliminate you from participating in other activities within the guild. Choosing a team simply gives you a starting point for participation, and gives you an idea of an easy place to begin to contribute. Team decisions can be changed later on if a member decides a different team would be a better fit.
Each team will be represented by an Ancient on the High Council. Be sure to keep open communication with your team and be aware of guild news and announcements.
Guild Roles / Teams of Children of Eternity
The Guard - (PvP) Dedicated to the defense of the ways of life of all Horde races and the continued containment of the Horde's enemies.
The Assault - (PvE - Dungeons) Striving to take an aggressive approach toward fending off all which threatens our guild, our people, the Horde, and the world as we know it.
The Order - (RP) Enhancing the social structure and setting of our people so that we may better know one another and acquaint ourselves to and with the world around us.
Children of Eternity's shared guild bank is maintained by the guild leader though a character named Coe. All guild auctions and other bank business are handled on the Coe character, in order to keep items and funds that belong to the guild as a whole separate.
The Coe character has limited access to the bank tabs, so it is often necessary for the guild leader to withdraw numerous items to make more room in the bank. These items are mailed to Coe immediately. All effort will be made to keep needed items in the bank for guild members, and members should inform Avalyndrae immediately if a needed item has been removed.
Any profit from selling items to auctions and/or vendors is deposited into the shared guild bank by Coe, who withholds enough to make deposits on auctions. Coe also sometimes reimburses shipping costs to members who disenchant items for the guild bank/auctions.
Members are limited to having two active alts in the guild. The alts are required to belong to a guild team, which may or may not be the same as your main character. Alts remain at the Honorary rank and a note will be made in the guild tab of the name of the main character the alt is associated with. Alts are subject to the inactivity policy!
Alts that are not in the guild are allowed to access our OOC chat, but must announce the name of the character in the guild or make it known who they are. In other words, we don't play the "ha ha you can't guess who I am" game.
In the event that a guild member is removed from the guild or leaves the guild, all posts made by that member or their alts on the guild forums are subject to be removed, including - but not limited to - character lore posted in The Library forum. For your protection, please keep a copy of all content that is important to you. Any posts that are removed or remain on the forums after the departure of a member do so at the discretion of the guild leader and officers.
