  • Raid Addons  |  Thursday, March 19, 2009 - 11:21 AM

The following addons are recommended (nay, required!) for making your life easier during raids:

Deadly Boss Mods

What does it do?

Gives warnings about boss abilities during raid encounters.  It places timers on the screen to show boss cooldowns and enrage times.  Also gives raid warnings when bosses are using or about to use certain abilities, such as Sartharion's Flame Wave and Maexxna's Web Spray.

Why do I need it?

It takes a lot of the guesswork out of the bosses, and if everyone is using it the raid leaders don't have to call out when certain things happen.

Omen

What does it do?

It's a simple threat meter.  Shows your threat in relation to the other members of the raid.  This isn't as much an issue now as it was in TBC, but still useful in long fights where there is a lot of threat going around.

Why do I need it?

If you are showing 130% of the MT's threat, you will probably die. Omen has warnings telling you when you are at 90% of the MT's threat so can rein it in.

Recount

What does it do?

Shows a plethora of information about each member of the group: Relative DPS, Total Damage Done, Healing, etc.  Also, it does a breakdown for each raider for each attribute.  For example, can display a chart showing that 50% of my DPS is from Incinerate, 20% from Conflagrate, and on an on.  This is addon is very robust in features but does not use many system resources because it uses the game's own combat log to parse data.

Why do I need it?

If you can see that your DPS, Damage Done, or Healing within our group is low you can take steps to improve it.

oRA3

What does it do?

It's an all-in-one raid management tool.  Keeps track of all of the long cooldowns for all party members (Rebirth, Army of the Dead, Soulshatter, etc.), watches durability damage, mass invites, and more.

Why do I need it?

Even if you're not the raid leader, it arms you with a great deal of information you can use to play better with your group.

If you have suggestions for other important addons for raiding, reply to this post using the same format I used and I'll add it to the list above.
